…A woman named Ruth Still once said “If my life is broken when given to Jesus, it’s because pieces will feed a multitude while a loaf will satisfy only a little lad.” I can’t remember when I came across that quote but it stuck with me and impressed upon me that the broken pieces of our lives aren’t just meant for our own growth and healing, but to breath life into the lives of others.

I began to offer those pieces through my writing when in 2012, my husband and I, newly married, became pregnant with our firstborn daugter, Sophie. We soon found out that she had a condition which would not allow her to live once born. She was celebrated to the fullest (and still is) as we carried her to term and enjoyed a precious 10 hours of life with her. 6 months later, we became pregnant with our 2nd daughter, Dasah, who was diagnosed with a similar condition to Sophie’s. Though we were devastated, we carried Dasah to term as well and rejoiced that God gave us 12 hours with her. Our life has not gone as we had planned or hoped, and my blog began as a place to chronicle Sophie and then Dasah’s life and walking with God in the midst of devastating loss.

Through their stories God has given Kevin and I opportunities to speak of the hope that God has continued to write on our hearts and share that with others. I’ve continued to chronicle our journey of grief, loss and hope and welcome you into our story. As I write and speak you may laugh, cry, be joyful and ache. But most of all I pray that you would be pointed to hope. The kind of hope that doesn’t disappoint when life disappoints. For that is the kind of hope we’re discovering as we walk through the joys of life, as well as the deep sorrows.
