Valuing the Sanctity of Life; The Surrendered Heart
In early 2014, I was asked to come to Cedarville University that following September to share the story of Sophie within the backdrop of the value of life at their daily Chapel service. Soon after I said “yes” we found out we were pregnant with our 2nd daughter and that she would also not survive once born and would be due to be born just 2 months after I would speak. I wondered if I could still share our story knowing our current reality and yet the Biblical story that kept coming to my mind was like Esther, this would be a unique opportunity to declare God’s goodness, the value of life as Dasah was growing in my womb “for such a time as this”. As I stood before an audience of over 3,000, this talk and the preparation for it was an offering to the Lord in the midst of deep pain. God met me and so many students in that room that day as students were challenged not only to value the sanctity of life but to walk surrendered to God’s ways above their own. I’m forever grateful for the privilege of speaking at Cedarville University.
